For tales of knights and Lear nonsense, our magical Surin storyteller's chair is a fabled Thai design. Superbly hand carved from warm, sun-blessed monkey pod wood, the generously proportioned chair follows beautiful bergere curves, and its intriguing sculptural motifs could just as easily be from a galactic star ship or King Arthur's court. All it awaits is your storyteller's imagination – we know of one customer who insists that everyone who sits in hers tells a story! Made exclusively for Myakka by a long-standing supplier from Chaing Mai, northern Thailand, the chair is full of original character and quality. Each unique one that's made takes many hours for a carver to complete.
Each Surin product is produced using an ethical approach to trading by supporting small, family run manufacturers and artisans in Thailand on a fair trade basis. Due to the nature of the product, the colour, grain and detail of the wood will vary adding to the unique charm. For more information please click on the Monkey Pod wood link below.
As this Surin Storyteller's Chair is hand waxed, we would recommend the use of coasters and mats to protect the wood from blooms caused by hot or wet items. In case of colour transfer, please also take care not to sit the product directly on light coloured carpet. We recommend this item for interior use only and would advise to avoid direct sunlight which may cause the solid wood to develop cracks.
